In 2004 I walked into a boxing gym for the first time…and it changed my life.
I remember the nerves pulsating throughout my body, almost as if there was a boxing match going on in my stomach. I remember the sound of leather clashing against the heavy bags. I remember the booming voice of Australian boxing legends, now some of my closest friends and mentors, shouting instructions that were followed religiously by a group of budding young boxers. And most of all, I remember that first punch I threw that figuratively and literally opened the door to a passion that drives me to this day.
I sometimes wonder to myself...
“What if I let those nerves get the better of me and never threw that first punch?”
Having the courage to not let that happen has given me over 10 years of incredible experiences learning from some of the best minds in the boxing world, it introduced me to amazing people who are now some of my closest friends...but most importantly it fed my obsession and deep seeded curiosity about health and fitness. It’s this passion for exploring how boxing can help strengthen the mind, body and soul that I try to bring to every interaction I have. For seven years, I followed my other passion of teaching, helping educate and develop young minds. Finally, I was able to combine my two passions of teaching and fitness.
